I cried a lot - Twitch coming back to his family and fighting for his happily ever after is giving the reader ALLLLL THE FEELS! we might need a bad guy for those dangerous and exciting moments I mentioned before. some of her moments were really adorable even! LOL! I might've also shed a little tear for her. I know she's been through hell and mayyyyybe she deserves her own series - I can totally see her being a bit 'nicer' and getting a happy end with the Turk - but nobody needed her in this series - she could've been cut out of it and these books would've been so much better! BUT - she's in here and it wasn't all that bad. what was Ling's purpose in this series? This could've been a great series without that woman. The one tiny thing I still don't like and I don't really understand. so full of emotions and heart and hope and ugh. The story was adorable, heartbreaking, sweet, dangerous, exciting, scary, frustrating, funny, sexy. I wanted to finish it in one day, because I just had to know how their story would end, but I also wanted to slow down to enjoy it for as long as possible! And it took a while to read, because it's just so long! I LOVED THAT! did we finally get a happy end? I'm not telling you that of course! And I think I cried all through it until. I already started crying in the first chapter/prologue.

I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you. When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. New Moon works well enough as a stand alone but these books really need to. Blockbuster author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with this companion: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view in paperback edition. Hopefully this book can be a distraction from the real world. New Moon is the sequel to Stephenie Meyers remarkably good debut novel Twilight. “It didn’t seem fair to make you wait anymore. “It’s a crazy time right now and I wasn’t sure if this was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long,” Meyers said on Monday’s Good Morning America. As opposed to a continuation from the final saga released in 2008, Midnight Sun will retell the entirety of the original novel from the perspective of chiseled high-school vampire Edward Cullen, as opposed to his dour human girlfriend Bella Swan. Twilight writer Stephenie Meyer announced today that she’ll be releasing a new book into the franchise, Midnight Sun, on August 4. The next day, Meursault runs into his neighbour, Raymond Sintes, who invites him over for dinner. As they spend time laughing and flirting, Marie is surprised to hear that Meursault’s mother just died. Chapters 2 & 3Īfter returning to Algiers, he goes to the beach and runs into Marie Cardona, who he spends the remainder of the day with. He narrates that he does not remember much from the funeral, only the heat of the day as they walked to the church. Meursault attends her funeral and gets irritated by his mother’s friends, who are crying and mourning her death. The first lines are one of the most famous lines in The Stranger: “Maman died today. The novel begins in 1940s Algiers where Meursault, the narrator, receives news that his mother has died. Let’s jump right in! (And while I’m saying “their,” I of course would be really opposed to this system, too!) You can see clearly from recent news stories that many women are incredibly concerned about their “reproductive freedom.” I imagine Wither, where women literally ARE forced to give birth is something like their worst nightmare. I agree that what makes this “dystopian” to readers is the issue, essentially, of women’s rights. They are essentially victims and not active participants. The other two wives have their own attitudes, but are provided backstories that make any actions they take that could be “distasteful” to readers seem to be the fault of the corrupt system in which they are raised. DeStefano takes particular care to distance Rhine from the situation, making it clear that she never wanted to be there and having her refuse to act as a wife in any capacity. It has far more detractors than supporters even in terms of characters. I think you said on Twitter that you’re about halfway through the book (I don’t have an account, but I occasionally stalk!), so it won’t be a spoiler to mention that absolutely nobody is actually enjoying polygamy in this world. As much as DeStefano probably included it to make it “edgy,” she took a lot of effort to make it a nonissue. I agree that polygamy isn’t really the “problem” with this book. "If you ask me, I say leave the whole place alone." "You don't want to go back to the south pole, trust me." The room was suddenly buzzing, the tension starting to crescendo. "We could tell them there's a good chance of finding large amounts of tantalum seventy-three at the moon's south pole." "Why do you think they'd be on board with us going back?" "People had already completely lost interest in the moon missions before the last launch in 1972," another one said. "Well," one of the seven began, chewing on his pencil, "it's an incredibly risky proposition. All rules forbidding smoking in government offices had fallen by the wayside as nerves came to a head. The cigarette smoke in the room was thick and impenetrable, making the atmosphere even gloomier. The writing style was more literature than thriller. For example the Facebook reactions from some unimportant people. It was too descriptive and a lot of information could have been skipped. What bothered me during this story was the length of it. This gives us a clear insight in the family secrets and all the family drama that unravels. She wants to protect her children as well as finding out why they did what they did. Melissa, our protagonist, knows that one of her children has killed her husband, but the why is lacking and her mother instincts make her react in a different way. The characters were well-developed and you really get to know the setting, the town and our protagonist. The premise of the story already made me very excited to read it.Īnd it was an interesting read. The whole concept sounded very interesting from the start.Ī small town, a murder mystery, with the wild nature in the background. The story begins with a flashback from the killer and you move on to the present when Melissa discovers her husband is murdered, probably by one of her children. ***ARC received in exchange for an honest review.*** Interested in Katy’s research and writing? Luckily, there are some great children’s books about evolution that introduce the subject in basic ways. However, because it is such a complex topic, adults can struggle to find ways to explain it. On the flipside, gaining an understanding of the workings of evolution can inspire a greater appreciation for our place in the universe and can instill in oneself the urgency of conservation.ĭespite being a tough subject to grasp, there is no reason why children should be exempt from learning about it. Wrapping one’s brain around even the basic tenets of evolution can take years of study, yet it is one of the most fundamental concepts of biology failing to understand it stifles one’s knowledge of and appreciation for the study of life on Earth. Because evolution is generally such a slow process, it involves a timeline that is challenging for us to comprehend. Evolution is also commonly misunderstood, so misconceptions abound, be they purposeful misrepresentations, gaps in understanding, or otherwise. Evolution is a difficult subject to learn, let alone teach. Synthesizing Wonder & The Julian Chapter. Now readers will have a chance to hear from the book's most controversial character-Julian.
